This is the home of the legendary Hermann Maier and its ski area which SummerHaus backs onto. It has an extensive size of > 250 kms of piste. The area covers several sectors: Flachau, Wagrain and Alpendorf which are all linked up by a 3 minute ski bus between lifts; Flachauwinkl, Kleinarl and Zauchensee which are linked by a 3 minute ‘road train’; plus St Johann, Eben, Filzmoos and Radstadt. There’s great links by road with regular ski buses (e.g. the base lift station of Flachauwinkl is only a 10 minute bus ride from Flachau). Hence getting around the area is easy and good fun.
The ski area offers a good variety of runs for all levels and ages; there’s the awesome glacier at the top of Flachau, and there’s plenty of off-piste for the experts; and miles and miles of pistes with some great trails through the trees for those who like to crank up the miles. There are also special ski sectors and snow parks for the children.
The lift system is modern, fast and efficient. Hence long queues are a rarity, as there are plenty of 6 and 8 seater lifts, as well as Gondolas, which can move thousands of people quickly up the mountain.
The area also has Guaranteed Snow Cover in the Winter season. Flachau backs up this promise with one of the world’s modern and most extensive snow cannon systems.
