Check out Hohenwerfen Castle
This magnificent castle has been used in many movies and films, most notably in ‘Where Eagles Dare’ and ‘The Sound of Music’. The castle dates back to the 11th century and was built on a large rock outcrop overlooking the Salzach river valley. The setting of the castle is made more stunning by the backdrop of the Tennengau and Hagen mountain ranges. The castle has a gripping history of wars, revolts and sieges, as a visitor you’ll get the opportunity to step back in time. It’s a great place to visit and explore. The castle also has a Falconry Centre, and visitors are welcome to watch and even participate in the craft of falconry.
